Leavitt makes an interesting argument for it. I have just finished reading Keturah and Lord Death today. If you like romance, you should enjoy this book. After three days, she is exhausted and starving. For this Spotlight List, I've gathered together a few fairy tale retellings that are based on stories that are retold less frequently and have been retold here in very unique ways. I had high expectations because I have enjoyed Leavitt's earlier work, especially Keturah and Lord Death. I just finished reading Keturah and Lord Death by Martine Leavitt. This is one I read after hearing some chatter about it -- plus seeing it at work. Lost and hungry after following a stately hart through the forest, Keturah encounters Lord Death, who is ready to take her. I also love verse novels and gritty YA.
